Keesha Ewers, ARNP, FNP, AAP, RYT: Keesha is a primary and preventative medical care provider. She is one of the two clinicians at Fern Life Center and specializes in:
Keesha has been in the medical field for over 22 years. She started as a registered nurse working in Critical Care, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Diabetes education and Hospice. After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and finding no cures in the western medical tradition she began exploring “alternative medicine” routes and that was her introduction to yoga, which led to an introduction to Ayurveda, which led to Jyotish and Vastu (with some side roads into Reiki, Shamanism and Matrix Energetics along the way). It was during her work in end of life care when she really discovered that the Western Medical Model does a fantastic job…but not until a person has a terminal illness. In hospice a person’s environment, spirituality, ethnic culture, mind, and body are all paid attention to in an integrated way. She decided to go back to school with the vision of having a wellness center (Fern Life Center) that addressed all these aspects of the human life earlier in the life spectrum.
Keesha is a Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Pracitioner (ARNP) with a specialty in primary care or family practice (FNP). She received her registered yoga teacher (RYT) certification after training in Michigan and specialized in children’s and yoga for teens. As a Mother of four children, one of her passions is empowering youth and providing tools for them to negotiate our contemporary world of high stress and high speed.
Keesha has been studying Ayurveda for several years and is completing a Master’s degree at the Ayurvedic Academy of Seattle. She has also studied with Dr. Lad in New Mexico and is currently learning the sciences of Jyotish and Vastu.
Keesha believes strongly that the body should be allowed to heal itself and is conservative in prescribing Western medical drugs. However, she also believes that for acute illness, Western medications should not be ruled out and does use them to bring the body into homeostasis so that the journey to authentic balance can begin. She studied Planetary Herbology with Michael and Leslie Tierra with the intent to integrate Chinese, Western, and Indian traditions and bring Fern Life Center’s source of herbals closer to home.
In addition she is a Reiki Master and trained Shaman which adds richness and new dimensions to diagnosing and treating disease. She also developed and helps direct the Interfaith Voices of Youth (IVY) organization. Her role in the world is that of bridging, empowering and transforming. Keesha travels the world studying indigenous ways of healing and has come to the conclusion that our spirituality and stories of creation cannot be separated from what is happening on the contemporary political and social stage in the world.
