Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Nicole Laurent, LMHCA, is in private practice and assists patients at Fern Life Center as a Mental Health Counselor upon referral. Providing clinical psychotherapy services, she works with individuals, families and couples.
Nicole uses time-limited, respectful and solution-focused treatments for individuals and families. Avoiding traditional models of treatment that focus on pathologies and limitations, she uses cognitive, behavioral and dialectical theories and techniques when conceptualizing and treating client difficulties.
Nicole has been assisting individuals and families since 2003, with the goal of improving the quality of life for all involved. She specializes in cognitive, behavioral, and dialectical methods that are time-limited, respectful and solution-focused. Problems addressed with such approaches may include a variety of difficulties, including anxiety disorders, depression or relative sadness, anger, difficulties in getting along with others, chronic emotional dysregulation, chronic physical or emotional pain, and finding healing after trauma or loss. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from Washington School of Professional Psychology in Seattle. She trained over a year with doctoral level clinicians, both within the Central Kitsap School District and while at Monroe Correctional Facility’s Special Offender Unit. She continues to work with a diverse range of clients within her community on a range of issues important to families and relationships. Nicole lives on the east side with her significant other and her two children. She actively pursues interests in an range of fields in the social and biological sciences. Her hobbies include reading, listening to live music, and cooking. Things she continues to work on and aspire towards good physical condition, community activism, and living a simple and balanced life.
